Salus University is participating in a study on Visual Rehabilitation. The purpose is to determine the best way to increase access and improve the effectiveness of vision rehabilitation services to African American adults with central visual impairment. Join us at the 2012 Student Quiz Bowl at Salus University on Friday, April 20, 2012. The winner of the Quiz Bowl will represent PCO/Salus University at the national Varilux Student Quiz Bowl at Optometry’s Meeting.

Visually impaired veterans with acuity between 20/50 and 20/200 needed to be in a study at the Philadelphia Va Medical Center. They must have macular disease. They will receive a low vision exam and low vision aids and will have at least three visits. They will receive low vision aids and 20 dollars a visit for their time. This past September Dr. Andrew Gurwood presented the Honorable Scott Petri with the Van Essen Award from BMOS for his support.

The 2012 Stand down for homeless vets will be in Friday, September 7th and Saturday, September 8th. We need optometrists to help and are looking for donations of over the counter reading glasses. Last year doctors from the Bucks-Mont Society and PCO students volunteered to examine the eyes of more than 100 homeless veterans.
