National Special Olympics Games

It’s time to request volunteers again for Special Olympics Opening Eyes, but THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT.

THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT as New Jersey is hosting the Special Olympics National Games and athletes and their families from all over the US will be headed to the Garden State. NJ plans on providing the best Healthy Athletes Program ever with Optometrists (Opening Eyes), Dentists, Podiatrists, Physician and Physical Therapists collaborating to provide care and education to a population so in need.

Participants for a study in Visual Rehabilitation Needed!

The purpose is to determine the best way to increase access and improve the effectiveness of vision rehabilitation services to African American adults with central visual impairment. Seeking Visual Impaired Veterans

Sunday, April 24th, 2011
Visually impaired veterans with acuity between 20/50 and 20/200 needed to be in a study at the Philadelphia Va Medical Center. They must have macular disease. They will receive a low vision exam and low vision aids and will have at least three visits. They will receive low vision aids and 20 dollars a visit for their time. This is part of the LOVITT 11 study and is a multi center study done in 8 VA hospitals. Contact Dr. Denise Wilcox at Phone 215-340-9737 or
